wow, looks interesting.

where did you get your information from ? No official news on zoom's website or www.harmony-central.com

Sounds like it can record 4 signals simultaneously, does it still have xlr inputs and phantom power ?

cheers

I don't think so - but have never seen one in real.

I hear : "it sells from 199 dollars"
So : XLR inputs , and soforth : very unlikely
By the way : I can ownly hear the sound of the video, though
my quicktime player (windows version) is up to date.

Greetings from Holland,

Paul Janse

Off course !, and thanks for the tip.
This works, and I have been using the player in the past, knowing
that it "eats" almost everything.

I am very curious about the exact specifications of the "H2" compared
to that of the "H4".
I was planning to buy the "H4", but "Armin" wrote :"Additional to H4:"
Does that mean that the "H2" has all the features of the "H4", and even more ???

As I wrote : I doubt it, but maybe "Armin" knows more, than I/we do : :)

Armin got it from Zoom, no doubt. He's got friends there.

No XLR inputs, but it does "work with phantom powered stereo microphone". I'll find out today if this means it will supply 48v or not.
Also, no 4-channel mode, no built-in studio effects, only a single 1/8" stereo mic input jack and one 1/8" line input jack, a single L/M/H mic gain switch, a play/pause button, time-stamping of recordings, headphone jack, same audio converters as the H4.

Unless you are referring to something else, the original post mentioned 'plug-n-power' -- not phantom power -- i.e., low voltage electret mics such as used with mini-disc 'plug-n-power' mic inputs.

I confirmed this with Samson. No phantom power is available, only the 5 volts or so supplied by the stereo mic jack for external stereo electret mics. The H2 will be available in May.

I expect some of you have seen this already, but my writer in Anaheim was able to snap photos of the unit and specs on the floor of NAMM:

Recording@NAMM: Zoom’s $199 USB H2 Mobile Mic/Recorder, Found in the Wild

The 5V restriction makes sense; they're imagining you'll just use minijack stereo mics as found in consumer devices (and some of those electret condensers work quite nicely, too). I'm still looking for the perfect portable with a real decent pre and phantom power, but for the ultra-portability / low price of this, I'm sure interested.

Too bad they didn't have a working unit for NAMM; hopefully by Austin this summer.[/url]
