Went to do a remix on a song today. All of a sudden EZDrummer doesn't work on my laptop. All of a sudden my laptop is UNAUTHORIZED :!: :!: :!:

It wasn't 24 hours ago! It worked fine and I didn't change a damned thing on it since. I took notice that the authorization code mysteriously changed and the only correction for that is they have to reset it on the Toontrack website...

OK! but...................

The Toontrack website is on the fritz apparently, or at least part of it. I can't get to their tech support either.

Thanks a lot for screwing me, Toontrack!

It sometimes occurs to me with the EastWest Symphony Orchestra. I recall years ago I had authorization problems with other audio software, it's so frustrating that when you pay good money for a software they presume you're trying to steal it, and make it unusable to you when probably somewhere else someone is enjoying a cracked copy with no effort.
When I switched from the copy protected Emagic Logic 5.5 to the unprotected Apple Logic 8, I applauded Apple for removing the copy protection. And I hate having a USB port taken by an iLok.

It probably happened because I switched my ISP from the morons at Verizon to Comcast. I had to buy my own wireless router to plug into the modem which they supplied. It's a much faster setup @ 125 mbps over Verizon's 1 mbps though. Now I feel as if I' really on the high speed route! The other night I downloaded a movie from YouTube. 400 megs came in less than 5 minutes!

I digress. The Toontrack problem was probably caused by the new router/modem configuration. What it did was change the Computer ID to my laptop by 1 figure. So they'll probably have to give me a whole new number.

I checked their website. It's better than yesterday. Looks like they're rebuilding it.

When I get my desktop reset I'm gonna keep the modem off when I'm running the music apps to play it safe.

I always hated this stupid way of mandatory on line registration! We honest folks have to pay for the damned hacker/crackers!
It's not fair :!:

John,
I think I have copy of that software. I remember I had to register my PC with a licence number at my online account. I couldn't install it on another PC before I had deactivated one. Think that was the scenario. Complicated. I have never used it to create a drum track because I never figured out how to use it without a DAW. Waste of money, waste of time for me.

One of the reasons I just record into a standalone box using normal instruments :D

Pete

PS are you settling in the new place ok?

Yes, we are. Thanks Pete. :D

Re: the software thing. I have been using this product on two machines for almost two years and no problem. This just came out of nowhere. :?

Solved. Finally got through to tech support, but for some reason Firefox only brought parts of the website and IE only brought in others. I installed Google Chrome and sent the support request and it finally got through. Two hours later a tech support guy emailed me with the re authorization solution.

:D
