Pete, Sean, Antonio - thanks again guys. It sounds really corny to admit but some of the things you've shared represent about as close to a "hit" as most of us can hope for as homemade do-it-yourself types. We''ll keep writing, recording and trying to share a few things even if the whole world hates it BUT it sure is pleasant to get words of encouragement to the contrary from time to time.

m24p - I listened to it the other day through a stereo and it sounded much worse than I anticipated. :x One of these days I'll get some real monitors (with at least 5" woofers) and have more confidence in what I'm hearing. Otherwise, I find myself mixing to the medium and being shocked when alternating. :D
For me it's more about the song and performance these days. It really is a pain when the song is obscured by a less than stellar mix though. Thanks for the spin and comment. :^:

PS: I sent Steve a PM with the Antares voice effect info. It's very old from like 2005 or so.

Classic rock with a touch of 2012 vocal effects. Well done. Tight and well arranged and performed. But then, I'd expect nothing less. :guitar:

Most excellent playing. The music reminds me of the mid-70's. I like the dark lyric. Well done!

Superb, ballsy, rock guitars. This type of track normally has a bit more reverb on the vox I think. Love the choppy guitar in the background around 1.06.

This would get even better with some vocal harmonies. Smashing lead break in there, you seem to have more fingers than me.

That guitar thing comes in again just after 3.00, don't know how you did it but I love it.

thanks a lot man. Yeah, I struggled to keep the guitars in the mix and it’s hard to hear that I’m actually playing a lot of notes during the verse lines. Lol The mixing process (as it pertains to maintaining a volume balance) is my least favorite part of finalizing a recording. It's like a game of whack a mole to me.

Whack a Mole indeed. :) I have listened many times.

Dude, I like the bouncy (delay?) riffing/shredding at the end of this tune. Chaotic, fun sounding. It's got style. Very rhythmic. What'd you do, how'd you do it? I must know! :look: :guitar: :D

Thanks!

Matty

Great blackness. Very dark, indeed. I can see Meatloaf singing this with lots of stage fx.

Really good

Nice song Lee. That's an interesting exchange between you and Pete 2 Wheels. He's right: there is a tentative something going on with your new stuff compared with the exuberant rock-mix-fest that we were hearing a few years ago; but equally I like the more considered tone. I think these new boots will take some wearing in, but it's going to be worth it and I hope you keep on with it and produce more.
Best.
Tim

I've listened to this 3 times since I got back from my lunch break and The mix is impressive. It is the first one I've heard from you honestly, but I'm glad I started there. Rock is not my genre, but I've heard enough to know how it's supposed to sound. The auto-tune part caught me by surprise, but I love the way it was implemented. Hey, how can I get codekiddies’/Phil’s free app to convert the drums to a .MID file. That sounds very interesting. The songwriting was impressive as well, and after reading your process of how this song came to be, seems like a lot of work was put into it. I'll definitley be listening to more, man. I'm gravitating more from rap to singing, so I'll need the influence and encouragement. Keep at it.

Oh you asked me who mastered my project. I have a buddy Eddie Robinson who lives here in lil ol' Arkansas in the small town of Gurdon. I can difect you to his production work if you desire to hear it. He does a great job. He's in school for nursing now, and I'm kinda on my own, so the next thing I post will most likely be without his assistance.

Take care,
JD
