Please PM or email me any further reviews and comments as to allow this one to rotate off the first page. Thank You....surfercook/Marc

My latest jam.....Note that in my version I programmed the drums, studied the rhythm guitar voicings and then recorded it, replaced the original mute guitar w/an arpeggiating synth, went with a more advanced bass pattern, and finally added my lead guitar.
The track Omega jammed to is different than mine. His is the original jam track from David Walliman with only my rhythm guitar and arp synth dubbed in. Walliman is an amazing musician w/a lot to offer and well worth checking out.

I'm trippin out here!! :eye3:

All three of you tore it up, that's very impressive. Yeah, too much verb on that sax, I'd like to hear it cut down to a bare minimum. How about a mix that uses all three of you?

A cover, alas.

All well done. Probably prefer the guitary one to the saxy one. But as someone said: why not combo of all of you.

not a true cover as we all did our own melodies, which would probably clash horribly if melded into one tune.

and Respect the 'Verb! lol

Why I tagged it a Jam Track. Jam tracks are awesome for developing ideas and....having FUN!! :D And my post is customized!
Did everything with my You Rock Guitar in Tap Mode:
1) Learned the rhythm guitar voicings EXACTLY how they sounded, charted it out, and recorded said guitar to the Walliman track.
2) Did a copy paste of the my rhythm guitars midi notes to a new track and found the synth I wanted instead of doing a mute guitar track like Walliman's. I then did some minor editing to make it a bit more pleasant as some of the voicings did not fit to well.
3) For the bass track I used a fretless patch and used a more voicied out and slightly more complex bass pattern than what Walliman had recorded.
4) Next I muted the original jam track and started the daunting task of finding some suitable drums and patterns. After wrestling w/EZ Drummers many choices for about an hour I finally tried Studio Drummer and quickly found what I thought was more than suitable, and similar to the original.
5) Lastly I tracked my lead over my newly built jam track and tweaked the mix for final mixdown.

I really wanted to do my own jam track for this and kinda make it more mine.

I was hoping someone would notice. I wanted to do a live performance vid, but just wasn't up for it. This one came out pretty cool though w/that animation!

Well, I kinda put it together as a jam track for individual performance, but it's always doable as a collab! Hey, lets hear you on it, Madman Matty!!...no swearing though! :tolietpaper: (for your potty mouth)!

Hey Marc,
To me, this is the best song you've posted. Mainly because it's different than the rest of your songs, & it's got more of a rock vibe to it. Great sounds dude, but especially on the lead guitar. Very cool that you've started using the ampsims/distortion in your stuff, gives a whole new dimension to your songs.......

Keep it up!!!!

You really have got the hang of that YRG Marc. Now it would be interesting to hear you start to use different sounds other than a guitar and explore a whole new sound palette :)

Excellent work from all of you and, as someone said, a mix with all three would be pretty special.

Cheers

Dick

Wow.........this is worth listening to again and again. You've really got a wide range of tones on your last few posts!

And it is again a pleasure to have you post on my tune, Louis. You have become a big fan of my music here on the ZOOM forum. Thanx so much for that....I love to play music in my dreams and don't think I could ever play a "Nightmare" piece, too negative, I prefer the feel good stuff.

Thanx, James. I actually started using amp/sims a looong time ago when I scored my first ZOOM unit back in 1999, the mighty and tiny PS-02. I was awestruck the first time I plugged into that thing and started wailing leads w/those amazing tones. And distortion? Well, the first time I cranked my Fender Deluxe waaay back in '75 and discovered sustain I was hooked. Just that the last couple yrs I've really been mellowing out, guess it might be my age showing. But I think the French Guitar Contest renewed my love for this sound. One thing that I'm pleased w/RE; your post is that you didn't bag my drums this time. I'm really happy w/this drum track and kinda wanna hear what you think of it. I really tried to make em "minerman tough"!

Well, you haven't been paying attention to my YRGing, Dick!! So far I've done saxes, trumpets, flutes, full horn section, electric and acoustic pianos, harmonica, full orchestra, harp, synths, mandolin, acoustic and electric guitars, and bass guitars. But I'm sure you've got better things to do than log what I'm recording on my YRG! I will say it's the best $183.00 I ever spent for a guitar-like-midi-controller though. Thanx for droppin into Surf Studios for a listen, sir.

That is very kind, Howard. I am liking what I'm hearing, thank you, sir...Now I think I should get my butt in gear and try and market some of my tunes...hmm, where to start?

Aoelian Dream. Cool atmosphere, a nice holiday feel (but I got holidays on the brain today). Love the mellow vibe, how appropriate, the Aeolian islands... heh heh 8) Ooh that sea is so blue.

Listening to Omegaman's dabble on the same. It does add a new dimension, bloody hell - that's a great sound. The sax is a bit too overpowering maybe, could be pushed further back.

Inspiring, I may even grab my guitar after I've been for a walk and lost money on the Grand National....
