Yeah, same happened to me!! Guy, Gary, have we ended up in an alternate reality which is not supposed to be our own like in some sci-fi B-movie (surely a low budget production)?

You guys aren't rock stars!? That means I have no chance. Crap. ;)

Guy, I liked your playing, a lot. In my book, yer a badmuthafucka. :D And the vid was classic humor(the end, I mean). You shook things up, rattled the cage a bit. That rocks; never mind the bollocks! :D

He Guy,

I saw your new entry: http://youtu.be/4CMS1ns_hDE
That's the spirit, just let them eat ...

And you got your traveler back, thats the way to go ;)
Still love your approach with the country/Mark Knopfler feel.

I was really rooting for you , Henky..it was a tough field though. I would not have wanted to have been a judge on that one. I must have watched 100 entries but missed alot of these finalists, especially the winner!! I did see the amazing 15 yr old at the 13:00 mark who received honorable mention though. And I also saw that amazing dude in the clouds playing banjo rolls for the entire jam track (in the ending credits)!

You should have used the clip with the YRG, you would have been definitely in the top 10 ;)

Nah, i don't know about the winners, first place is really really good.
But the rest ... nothing special, i've seen entries far far better.
It proves it's all a matter of taste and making music is just not a game or contest, it ain't soccer.
And i don't say this because I'm sore not to be in the top 10 hahahaha
The kid and the guy in the clouds are awesome though and it was a lot of fun to do.

Thanks for the info Marc.

Not my opinion.
I've listened to his performance on headphones, the guy is not perfectly in sync at
around 00:28.

Edit : 113590 views on the biggest guitar forum here, and they all agree with me. The number one is really not the
best.

My favorite of the top 10 was #4. Skip to 0:44 to hear a nice transition between tones and styles.

lol...I was thinking the same thing! After watching the finalists and then my entry, it sounds like I'm playing it at 1/2 speed!

Oh well, it wasn't a publicly judged contest. Those judges are experts in what to look for as far as technique, attack, tone, and originality. Had to be a tough job.I wonder if there is some kind of tally sheet point wise that is used.

You are speaking of the mellow/jazzy part. I really like what the winner did on that segment.

Meh. The winner had great technical abilities on the guitar, and he used them. I still liked #4 better.

Opinion is entitled and dually noted. Could you imagine trying to be on a panel of judges and going through over 500 entries?! :noway:

Yes. It would be so crazy. Everything would start sounding like mush.

Friend of mine tossed this one at me- guitarcenter.com/battleoftheblues. Too bad it's not an online video competition like the French Guitar Contest. The prizes are alot bigger here though, so I can kinda see why they want it to be a live performance. At least w/the video performance, you get a bunch of tries.
Some sweeet backing tracks...break out those blues riffs, boys! So far I'm favorin Funky Mambo, Jazz Swing Blues, and Second Line Blues. 8) (Jake Elwood style for a while)

Gotta tighten it up a bit still. One take here...right through..no PI/POs. Gotta do it live right?
