Suddenly I felt vibration in my bones,
my heart replaced with a leaf in the wind.
All I know is that the hands will go away,
But the stormy sound will always stay.

Nice going, Mike.

Reading this two days after the first post (I should check the forum more often).

This is sad. I wonder if Riff was the first obit we have had in our group.

He will be missed.

Riff was certainly one of the giants of the forum, and I am very saddened to hear of his passing. He was held in huge respect round here.

One of his many contributions was for Voclizr's 2090 anthem (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9319&hilit=2090+anthem).

At the time I said:

John, you've captured a moment in time here. When you hear this song in 10 years' time it will bring back some amazing memories of this forum and the friendships in it. You've really captured the vibe of the group with this one. This song was a great idea and a great song, and it will live on. 2-0-9-0 !!!!

This really is a fun romp and captures a bit of recent history on the twenty ninety....... Who knows who and what will be going on here in the next year.....but, regardless of who and what, for now, we have.......the anthem....

Never have these words felt so poignant.

I thought it would be really nice to mark Riff's passing in some way, maybe a video with compilation of some of Riff's stuff, maybe with a few people giving their own thoughts on Riff was and how he affected them. Something that could be sent to his family. Dunno. Just an idea. Maybe his music is testament enough.

Hope to join him again for the great gig in the sky!

Rupert

My main concern is the song.

Great idea Rupert. I don't think I could do a voice over without balling right now. Maybe in a month or so.
The ever increasing anxious feeling I had after Riff's PM changed to a very heavy heart with Mikes post....this is hitting me harder than I thought it would.

I had the honor and the pleasure to listen to his music and I am very sorry to hear about his passing away. I have the greatest respect for his musical skills and will miss them.

Aww man, just found out about this.
R.I.P Riff my friend. I can just imagine you are exchanging riffs with Jimi and Stevie.
Thanks for all the encouragement through the years, and for setting the bar high for all us Zoomers.

I didn't know Riffmaster, but he obviously touched a lot of people here.

Be sure to check out the latest episode of Homemade Hit Show which is a tribute to him.

If you would like to use "Anthem 2090" in a compilation disc of any kind, especially in a tribute to Riffy, please feel free to do so. In fact, PM me if you really want to and I'll upload the WAV file of it to my server and you can get it from there. It might take a few day cos of the dialup, (59 megs) but I upload to my server using WinSCP so that allows me to upload in multiple sessions and I'll send you the link when it's complete. :D ;)

I just read about this on the HMHS email, very sad indeed.
I spoke with him a few times across here and myspace and he was such an encouraging and indeed musical soul.

Very sad news indeed. Rob was quite a kick butt guitar player and a heck of a nice guy. Always had positive stuff to say with that southern twang on the HMHS. We will definitely miss him. His version of Rock and Roll by The Cracks is one of my favorite things I have ever heard on the HMHS.

We should probably make some CD copies of the HMHS tribute to him to send to his brother, wife and family. That kind of thing means a lot when you are grieving. I would be glad to do that if someone PM's me an address.

Rock on Riff,

DaVE

Hey Dave... I'll be providing the family with as much Riff stuff as I can find for them.

If you find any links to Riff's HMHS work, pass them on to me.

Thanks,

M

Ian... thanks for stopping by. I was thinking about you and Ian Mackay yesterday.
I just hadn't had time to contact you yet. My apologies.

Rob was most recently in two shows:
HMHS131 - The Cracks Tribute
HMHS115 - He plays 6 by 9

In show 115 he did a nice long intro to his song which is great to hear. I bet his family might love to have that segment. His bit starts about 14 minutes into show 115.

Dave
