Good move! Not that I've posted a whole lot lately or that anyone really cares, But I'm
DaveDudek on the old IHR forums.
Just an update on my music/recording status:
After futzing around with PC's running Windblows and/or
Ubuntu Studio Linux, a
Roland/Boss BR1200 CD, and an ancient suped-up PowerMac G4 tower, I finally got new gear that actually works really well for me. I was pretty much inspired to choose what I did from listening to the IHR and Home Made Hit Show podcasts. I now use:
I've been doing quite a bit of recording with the H4n both as a standalone recorder as well as a USB interface for my MacBook Pro. GarageBand 3 (iLife '08) suits most of my editing needs, although I've used
Reaper the few occasions I need something more sophisticated.
My ultimate goal is to record some original songs that I can share on the Home Made Hit Show podcast. I've been recording some of my band's original songs, but mostly I've been recording other bands, artists at a local open mic I frequent, and street musicians. I've also done some interesting field recording of environments just for fun. My
RedHead windscreen is indispensible for these as well as recording outdoor concerts and such.
