Please let me introduce myself. I am a long time user of the PS-02 and despite its limitations i like it. Meanwhile devices like the Boss micro BR have a better sound, but i still prefer the PS-02 (and i a m giving my Micro BR to my children as a training tool for their playing). I am using these devices for practising - and this usually means two or three instruments - recording of bass tracks as well as of guitar tracks.

But the limitations of the PS-02 remain. One ist the recording capacity. My device is pretty old. A firmware update enabling it to fully utilize 128 MB cards would be nice - i have some cards left from a defunct digital camera.

Another issue is lack of linux and Mac OSX support (i am running tiger on a powerbook).
Any chance to get the windows software running unter wine?

The third and admittedly most important issue concerns rhythm tracks - notably the lack of support of uneven measures (one of the reasons why the Boss device is not an upgrade path for me). I would like to see support of 3/4, 6/8, 5/4 and 7/4. Any known source? What about the rt-323 patterns?

I know, many questions. And hopefully of general interest.

Best wishes

Bea

Hey bea and welcome to the forum. I've been here about 6 mnths and used to record on a PS-02 myself. Really miss the little guy since I upgraded to an MRS-8 a few months ago. As far as compatibility w/Linux...I can't help you there. Try http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/ps02/ and contacting Tech support. My unit was only able to utilize a 64mb SM Card so I had 3 of them. One was a working card that I never used and was only for system restore/backup only. One was another exact copy of the working card and the third had these new guitr effects loaded which I really miss- http://ps02_solutions.tripod.com/downloads.htm. Also I had the original factory SM card that came w/the unit to format all the various working cards.
If you search around the Tricks and Tips thread at the top there is a bunch of info/sites that are helpful. One is the Pattern Editor which is essential if you want to fabricate those odd time signatures. I never used it directly w/the 02 but did check out the demo ver for a bit on my PC. It seemed pretty easy to use but I never purchased. I do know that the 02 had a 3/4 Jazz Waltz preset that I used a couple times.
Here's a recording I did on the PS-02 right before unloading it for the MRS-8. Hope to see you on the New Recordings page.

I think anything will run under WINE. I'm using it on a Linux machine for another app, but if Wine for Mac is as good as Wine for Linux, you're in, since the card manager software seems very basic, as in, the original versions would probably run under dos. Good luck and welcome.
